Effective Collaboration for Real-Time Tracking

Project Context

In today’s market, finding the right programmers is a challenge, which is why Cogiscan entrusted Kezber with programming, recognized for its expertise and ability to meet deadlines. As part of a pilot project, Kezber collaborated with a Cogiscan developer to create a visual interface for real-time tracking of mobile equipment using beacons and radio frequency identification (RFID) transmitters, similar to a GPS system. This interface needed to display movements on a factory floor plan while being delivered as a turnkey solution, allowing Cogiscan to manage and maintain it independently.

Challenges and Technological Choices

With a tight deadline to present the proof of concept to clients, Cogiscan had only three months to complete a project requiring nearly 300 hours of work in analysis, project management, and development. The Kezber professionals not only met these deadlines but delivered a week early while staying within budget. To integrate seamlessly with the existing solution, the visual interface was developed using Angular 5, Bootstrap for responsive design, and MQTT with WebSockets, without altering the data format of the beacons. Another major challenge was optimizing real-time visualization performance, which the team successfully addressed by adopting the JavaScript library Leaflet, perfectly suited to the project’s needs.

Optimization and Automation: A Promising Project

Currently a proof of concept, this project will enable real-time tracking of mobile equipment across various buildings and will be marketed internationally. Kezber’s mandate is just the beginning of a larger initiative to optimize equipment movements, identify bottlenecks, and automate activities based on equipment positioning. This automation will enhance efficiency by optimizing robot routes and facilitating equipment localization, ultimately improving production. Cogiscan was highly satisfied with the collaboration, project execution, and on-time delivery and is considering working with Kezber again in the future.
